If you have an infected computer, the first thing you want to do is consider what type of infection it is, so that you can fully remove the threat(s).
Below, I will explain some common tools, their proper uses, and when it is appropriate to use them.

Note: Some specialized tools (ex: Combofix) should NOT be ran without the guidance of a trained Security Team Member designated by an orange username, or Administrator designated red on this forum.

Note: If you don't feel comfortable taking the below steps, you can post your concerns in the Spyware Removal Forum, and a trained user will assist you asap.

Adware is software that may frequently create pop-up ads or redirect you to unrelated pages, modify your browser settings, and track your browsing history.
Common Infection Methods: These infections are usually spread by "freeware" programs, and browser toolbars / addons (BHOs).
Threat Level: Low to Medium (depending on specific infection)

Removal Description:
Removal can be as easy as un-installing the program that downloaded the adware, to requiring manual removal.
You should start by updating your current anti-malware suite and running a Quick Scan to remove any active infections that may be hidden in the background.

You should never fully rely on one program to protect your computer, each anti-malware program will have unique strengths and weaknesses.
Get a second opinion by downloading one of the below programs, that are specifically created to remove Adware infections.

Adware Removal Software:
Be cautious when downloading software from 3rd-Party sites, they may have been tampered with or bundled!
