Google Search Results Redirects to Overclick.cn

Postby gordonsap » Thu Jun 25, 2009 7:45 pm

Google Search Results when clicked on gets redirected to a different website through overclick.cn. I have run Norton 360, PC tools spyware, Spybot & nothing seems to fix it on Firefox or IE7. The problem is not there on Google Chrome. Please help.

Hello, welcome to the Myantispyware forum.

I would check a few more.
Download Avenger from here and unzip to your desktop.
Run Avenger, make sure that the box next to "Scan for rootkits" has a tick in it and that the box next to "Automatically disable any rootkits found" does not have a tick in it, then click on ‘Execute’. Afterwards, Windows restarts, and opens the log generated by The Avenger so you can see the results. If it does not automatically open, then the log can be found at %systemdrive%\avenger.txt (typically C:\avenger.txt).

If Avenger will not run, please rename it to myapp.exe and try again!

Download RSIT by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
* Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
* Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
* Once it has finished, two logs will open.

Post back with both RSIT logs. Post each log (contents) in separate post.

I finally solved this problem by following this kids steps on You tube..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLvdyoudjiI

You will need 4 tools and follow the steps exactly as described above. Download everything in Safemode with networking. When you reboot your machine press F8 to get into Safemode. All the downloaded softaware is free..

Malwarebytes- Anti Malware can be downloaded from http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
Dr.Web Cureit Antivirsu can be downloaded from http://www.freedrweb.com/
Spyware Doctor from PC tools can be downloaded from http://www.pctools.com You only need the free standard edition.
Avira Antivirus from Avira can be downloaded from http://www.avira.com you only need the free edition as a final check.

This was a real nightmare but after about 10 hours I got it fixed.

I concluded that The Rootkit.TDSS virus was responsible for the Google Redirect which through Overclick.cn.

All the best to all out there.

JG.
