Need help with Windows Security Alert virus removal Vista OS

Postby lghj1969 » Thu Mar 11, 2010 4:22 pm

Hello all,
I have pc with a Vista Home Premium OS. I use AVG for virsu protection but I have somehow managed to pick a Windows Security Alert virus. I found an online forum (andymanchesta.com) for removing it from a pc running XP but it mentioned it wouldn't work if your running Vista. Any suggestions on how I can remove this virus from a pc running Vista?
Any help would be appreciated!!
Thanks,
Les

Hello, welcome to the Myantispyware forum.

Download RSIT by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
* Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
* Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
* Once it has finished, two logs will open. If it does not automatically open, then these logs can be found at %systemdrive%\rsit folder (typically C:\rsit)

Post back with both RSIT logs. Post each log in separate post.

Re: Need help with Windows Security Alert virus removal Vista OS

Postby lghj1969 » Thu Mar 11, 2010 10:24 pm

Patrik,
Thank you for responding. I have posted back with both RSIT logs in separate post (replies). I'm not sure I should have created 2 new post with different subject lines? (please accept my apologies if that's what I should have done) Also, I'm not sure if what I just ran was a fix or a datadump so you could see what was going on (i'm guessing it was the latter). I will await further instructions.

Thank you so very much,
Les

Need help with Windows Security Alert virus (what's next?))

Postby lghj1969 » Fri Mar 12, 2010 2:38 pm

Patrik,
Thank you for responding. I have posted back with both RSIT logs in separate post. I'm not sure if what I just ran was a fix or a datadump so you could see what was going on (i'm guessing it was the latter). I will await further instructions.

Thank you so very much,
Les

I would check a few more.
Download DDS from here and save it to your desktop.
* Disable any script blocker (your antivirus).
* Double click dds.scr to run the tool.
* When done, DDS will open two (2) logs (DDS.txt and Attach.txt).
* Save both reports to your desktop.

Post back with both logs.

Looks ok.
Still having fake security alerts ?
Please post here a screen shoot of the alert.

Please also:
download OTL from here.
* Save it to your desktop.
* Double click on the icon on your desktop.
* Click the "Scan All Users" checkbox.
* Under the Custom Scan box paste this in

netsvcs

drivers32
/md5start

%systemroot%\system32\drivers\*.sys /lockedfiles
%systemroot%\System32\config\*.sav
%SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.exe
%systemroot%\*. /mp /s
%systemroot%\system32\*.dll /lockedfiles

* Push the "Run Scan" button.
* The scan should take just a few minutes.
* Two reports will open (OTL.txt and Extra.txt).

Post back with both OTL logs. Post each log in separate post.
