Carefully browse through the list of installed software and remove all programs that has the name similar to the PrimeUpd. We suggest to press ‘Installed programs’ and even sorts all installed software by date. Normally, if the last word in the Target field is chrome.exe, iexplore.exe, firefox.exe. Be sure to pay attention to the extension, should be “exe”! Another variant, an address has been added at the end of the line. In this case the Target field looks like …Application\chrome.exe” http://site.address as shown on the image below.
In order to fix a shortcut, you need to insert right path to the Target field or remove an address (if it has been added at the end). You can use the following information to fix your shortcuts which have been modified by ‘ad supported’ software.

Once is done, press OK to save changes. Repeat the step for all browsers which are redirected to intrusive web sites.
Get rid of PrimeUpd adware from IE
If you find that Internet Explorer web-browser settings like new tab page, home page and search provider by default having been modified by PrimeUpd which cause unwanted ads to appear, then you may return your settings, via the reset web-browser procedure.
First, run the IE. Next, click the button in the form of gear (). It will show the Tools drop-down menu, click the “Internet Options” as shown below.
In the “Internet Options” window click on the Advanced tab, then click the Reset button. The IE will display the “Reset Internet Explorer settings” window as shown in the figure below. Select the “Delete personal settings” check box, then press “Reset” button.
You will now need to reboot your system for the changes to take effect.
Get rid of PrimeUpd from Firefox by resetting web browser settings
Resetting your Firefox is first troubleshooting step for any issues with your web-browser program, including the redirect to unknown and unwanted web pages.

In the Help menu, select the “Troubleshooting Information” option. Another way to open the “Troubleshooting Information” screen – type “about:support” in the browser adress bar and press Enter. It will open the confirmation dialog box. Further, click the “Refresh Firefox” button. The FF will start a process to fix your problems that caused by the PrimeUpd ad-supported software that causes multiple undesired advertisements and pop ups. When, it is finished, press the “Finish” button.
Remove PrimeUpd adware from Chrome

So, you need to check the Task Scheduler Library and remove all harmful tasks that have been created by malicious software.
Press Windows and R keys on your keyboard together. It will show a prompt which titled with Run. In the text field, type “taskschd.msc” (without the quotes) and click OK. Task Scheduler window opens. In the left-hand side, press “Task Scheduler Library”, as on the image below.
In the middle part you will see a list of installed tasks. Select the first task, its properties will be open just below automatically. Next, click the Actions tab. Necessary to look at the text which is written under Details. Found something like “explorer.exe http://site.address” or “chrome.exe http://site.address” or “firefox.exe http://site.address”, then you need get rid of this task. If you are not sure that executes the task, then google it. If it is a component of the adware, then this task also should be removed.
Further click on it with the right mouse button and select Delete as shown on the screen below.
