GenlT (created by Exundancy Co) is an adware (sometimes called ‘ad-supported’ software). This adware alters the Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, IE and Edge settings to open a large amount of unwanted popup ads on all sites, including web sites where previously you advertisements have never seen. These advertisements can be varied: pop-up windows, boxes, in-text ads, different sized banners and so on. What is more, the ad-supported software, that displays lots of unwanted pop up advertisements, can cause your Internet connection to be slow or freeze your web browser so that the interface is not updated anymore.
It’s not a good idea to have an unwanted program like this adware on your PC system. The reason for this is simple, it doing things you do not know about. The ad-supported software can also be used to collect a wide variety of personal data that can be later used for marketing purposes. You don’t know if your home address, account names and passwords are safe. And of course you completely do not know what will happen when you click on any GenlT pop up advertisements.
The ‘ad supported’ software can change the settings of the Google Chrome, IE, Firefox and Microsoft Edge, but often that a malicious software such as this can also infect all types of browsers by changing their desktop shortcuts. Thus forcing the user each time launch the web browser to see GenlT intrusive advertisements.

Remove GenlT adware

Manual GenlT ad-supported software removal

Removing the GenlT, check the list of installed applications first
First of all, check the list of installed software on your computer and delete all unknown and recently installed software. Windows 7, Vista, XP
Open Start menu and select the ‘Control Panel’ at right like below.
Then go to ‘Add/Remove Programs’ or ‘Uninstall a program’ (Windows 7 or Vista) as displayed on the image below.
Carefully browse through the list of installed applications and remove all applications that has the name like “GenlT”. We recommend to click ‘Installed programs’ and even sorts all installed programs by date. Once you have found anything suspicious that may be the adware, ‘ad supported’ software or potentially unwanted software, then select this program and press ‘Uninstall’ in the upper part of the window. If the suspicious program blocked from removal, then use Revo Uninstaller Freeware to fully remove it from your PC system.
Remove unwanted Scheduled Tasks
Once installed, the adware can add a task in to the Windows Task Scheduler Library. Due to this, every time when you launch your system, it will open GenlT ads. So, you need to check the Task Scheduler Library and remove all harmful tasks that have been created by ‘ad-supported’ program.
Press Windows and R keys on your keyboard together. It will show a dialog box that titled as Run. In the text field, type “taskschd.msc” (without the quotes) and press OK. Task Scheduler window opens. In the left-hand side, press “Task Scheduler Library”, as shown on the screen below.
In the middle part you will see a list of installed tasks. Select the first task, its properties will be display just below automatically. Next, press the Actions tab. Necessary to look at the text which is written under Details. Found something such as “explorer.exe http://site.address” or “chrome.exe http://site.address” or “firefox.exe http://site.address”, then you need delete this task. If you are not sure that executes the task, then google it. If it is a component of the adware, then this task also should be removed.
Further press on it with the right mouse button and select Delete as on the image below.
Repeat this step, if you have found a few tasks that have been created by unwanted applications. Once is finished, close the Task Scheduler window.
Remove GenlT ads from Chrome
If your Chrome internet browser is redirected to undesired GenlT ads, it may be necessary to completely reset your browser application to its default settings.
- First, run the Chrome and click the Menu icon (icon in the form of three horizontal stripes).
- It will show the Google Chrome main menu, press the “Settings” menu.
- Next, click “Show advanced settings” link, that located at the bottom of the Settings page.
- On the bottom of the “Advanced settings” page, click the “Reset settings” button.
- The Google Chrome will open the reset settings dialog box as shown on the image above.
- Confirm the web browser’s reset by clicking on the “Reset” button.

Remove ads by GenlT adware from IE
In order to restore all web-browser start page, newtab page and default search engine you need to reset the Internet Explorer to the state, that was when the Microsoft Windows was installed on your machine.
First, start the IE. Next, press the button in the form of gear (). It will open the Tools drop-down menu, click the “Internet Options” as displayed on the screen below.
In the “Internet Options” window click on the Advanced tab, then press the Reset button. The Microsoft Internet Explorer will show the “Reset Internet Explorer settings” window as on the image below. Select the “Delete personal settings” check box, then click “Reset” button.
You will now need to reboot your computer for the changes to take effect.
Remove GenlT ads from FF
Resetting your Firefox is good initial troubleshooting step for any issues with your browser program, including the redirect to GenlT ads.
First, run the Mozilla Firefox and click button. It will display the drop-down menu on the right-part of the web-browser. Further, click the Help button () as shown on the image below

In the Help menu, select the “Troubleshooting Information” option. Another way to open the “Troubleshooting Information” screen – type “about:support” in the web browser adress bar and press Enter. It will show the “Troubleshooting Information” page as shown in the figure below. In the upper-right corner of this screen, click the “Refresh Firefox” button.
It will display the confirmation dialog box. Further, press the “Refresh Firefox” button. The Firefox will start a procedure to fix your problems that caused by the adware which designed to reroute your browser to various ad web sites like GenlT ads. When, it’s complete, click the “Finish” button.
Clean up the internet browsers shortcuts that have been hijacked by ad supported software
Important to know, most antimalware software that are able to delete ad supported software, but unable to find and recover changed shortcuts. So, you need to fix the desktop shortcuts for your Chrome, IE, Firefox and Edge internet browsers manually.
Right click on the shortcut of infected browser as shown in the figure below.
Select the “Properties” option and it’ll show a shortcut’s properties. Next, press the “Shortcut” tab and then delete the “http://site.address” string from Target field as displayed on the image below.
Then press OK to save changes. Repeat the step for all internet browsers which are redirected to the GenlT intrusive web-page.

When the download is done, close all applications and windows on your computer. Double-click the setup file named mb3-setup. If the “User Account Control” prompt pops up like below, click the “Yes” button.
It will open the “Setup wizard” which will help you set up MalwareBytes Free on your system. Follow the prompts and don’t make any changes to default settings.
Once installation is done successfully, press Finish button. MalwareBytes Anti-Malware (MBAM) will automatically start and you can see its main screen as displayed on the screen below.

Once downloading is finished, open the file location. You will see an icon like below.

How was adware installed on PC system
