What is YTStealer?
YTStealer is a malware that functions like a Trojan horse. The purpose of this malware is to infect computers, spy the user and steal YouTube accounts. Security researchers have classified YTStealer as password-stealing trojan which means that its primary goal is to steal YouTube credentials (logins and passwords). Usually, such malware is able to control computers, download and install other malicious software, and steal user’s personal data.
QUICK LINKS
The purpose of YTStealer is to extract YouTube authentication cookies, as well as other information related to accounts on this platform (channel name and age, number of subscribers, monetization status, etc). This virus obtains cookies from the browser’s database files (user profile folder). Most likely, the cybercriminals behind YTStealer are using this malware to steal and then sell stolen YouTube accounts.
YTStealer is often distributed along with other malware, including ransomware and cryptominers malware. It can lead to blackmail, very serious privacy problems, identity theft, as well as significant financial losses. Ransomware can lead to the loss of personal documents and important data. Cryptominers are malware that uses computer resources to secretly mine cryptocurrency. Therefore, it is very important to use an antivirus, and if there are signs of an attack (if the YTStealer virus is detected) immediately scan the computer and remove the malware.
