XP Internet Security 2010 also known as XP Guardian, XP AntiSpyware 2010, XP Antivirus Pro and Antivirus XP 2010, XP Smart security 2010, XP Defender Pro, Total XP Security is a rogue antispyware program that reports false infections and shows fake security alerts as a method of scaring you into buying the software. The rogue is distributed through the use of trojans. When the trojan is started, it will download and install XP Internet Security 2010 (XP Guardian or Antivirus XP 2010) onto your computer.
During installation, XP Internet Security 2010 (XP Guardian or Antivirus XP 2010) will register itself in the Windows registry to run automatically every time when you start an application (files with “exe” extension). The rogue also uses this method of running to block the ability to run any programs, including security applications.
Once running, XP Internet Security 2010 (XP Guardian or Antivirus XP 2010) will begin to scan your computer and list a large amount of infections. All of these infections are fake, so you can safely ignore them. What is more, while the rogue is running, it will display fake security alerts and notifications with “Spyware infection has been found” or “Tracking software found” header. xp guardian 2010 tries to force us to spend money that we dont need to spend or want to spend…
this “fix” you are offering still costs $40 since you FORGOT to mention that it is not a free version on your website. furthermore, damn near every post on this site is the same horrible english as if it came from the same person.
i’m under the suspicious that this site is affiliated with the virus it claims to want to rid the world of. IF not, then you really should specify that we have the option of paying the virus or we can pay you, either way the options are rediculous.
thank you very much for wasting my time installing a product that will not work unless i spend money. i will be removing the virus my way, free and simple.
I went through with the procedure, step one, went fine, downloaded malware bites, went fine, scanned the computer, went fine, got rid of the viruses exept from 3 wich i was told i would need to restart my computer to get rid of.
I restarted my computer and now i get as far as the logon page before i am asked to regiister my copy of microsoft, ive tryed my product key plus a key i got straight from microsoft and im now unable to register my microsoft account and as such cannot log on.
I need this fixed asap as the computer infected has all the coursework that is due in on wednesday, i was just finishing things up when i recieved this virus and i cuurrenty have zero access to my files.
What should i do?
p.s. ignore the spelling mistakes, im not used to my sisters laptop.
Thanks
To whoever post this feed:
You are on point; my 13 year old daughter ended up with this BS virus on her mini PC; after reading and following the instructions over the phone to her, she was actually able to rid of the virus as you said it would have. Thanks for being there for us.
you guys rock. XP defender got in my laptop and made my life miserable but your procedure worked like a charm and removed it altogether. Thanks
Great fix.
Thanks so very much.
and… Tyler, settle down, in fact, I DID NOT SPEND A CENT, so I am not sure what you are talking about. I got the free version of the Malaware.
Method 1 worked so I could get into my computer again.
Step 2 removed the nasty thing with Malware .
This is a great fix, but I am having to run it again for a second time. I did it about a month ago and it cured the problem. I am just wondering why I keep getting this thing on my computer? Thanks for any info!
I just tried using the first method which didn’t seem to do anything because Malware bytes would not run afterward. Then I used the second method. Now, all I get is a black screen where the the profile pictures are supposed to come up. Any help would be appreciated. I am computer literate so I know I followed your simple instructions correctly. Please help! Thanks!
One other thing maybe I should add…my computer froze about a minute after running the .inf file and I had to manually reboot by holding down the button to turn it off. Ever since then all I get is a blank screen when I turn on again…
Tim, try run you computer in Safe mode and perform a scan with Malwarebytes Anti-malware.
Worked for me!!!! Thanks very much!!!!
hey I need something to remove this xp Internet Security
I got this on my computer + before reading this I performed sytstem restore to an earlier date + it seems to have removed it? no pop up’s + can use internet explorer fine. didnt think it would work but it has
The main computer has been infected with this virus for allmost a year now. Tried doing the instructions but to no avail. Can’t run anything at all. Tried running stuff of a USB stick but that didn’t work either. Try to go into safe mode and get BSOD’d. Please help.
markisohn brown, if the instructions above does not help you, then ask for help in our Spyware removal forum.
Thank you! Instructions were very easy to follow and my applications open now!
Trey, you can boot your PC in Normal mode ? can download anything from the internet ?
Hi Patrick – I fell for this and paid, although my credit card company are helping me get the money back. Do I still need to remove XP Internet Security or do you think it will have gone now?
Thanks for all the help you are giving people here.
Thank you very much. I followed your guides and got rid of XP Smart Security rouge on my netbook. You rock!!! God bless.
Crispin, anyway you need download Malwarebytes Anti-malware and perform a scan.
IT WORKS! Muchas gracias.
I tried this the first time I got teh virus and it worked wonders! It was fine for a month or so but now I keep getting the virus under different names, and it just randomly leaves by itself, and then comes back a few hours later under a different name. However, when I try to run the “fix.reg” I get the same prompt that Ambia did “Not all data was successfully written to the registry. Some keys are open by the system or other processes”. And when I run Malwarebytes, it doesn’t detect anything at all. I tried the OTM thing you posted, but when I go to download it, there’s no way for me to change it to “otm.com”
Carmen, try method 2 of step 1, then update Malwarebytes and perform a scan.
I tried to save Method 1 as fix.reg, All types, Unicode, but nothing happened. It is always giving the message: cannot import the file is not a registry script. You can only import binary files from within registry editor..
PLEASE HELP ME!!! Thanks
Method 1 worked great…. thank you so much… for all your help
